Questions
Questions about adult swim lessons
I have never been in a pool. Can I still come?
Yes. The first level starts at the rail in waist-deep water, and you decide how much of the water you want at each class. You can step out, rest at the wall or stop at any time.
What is a level?
A level is a short list of what you practice, such as floating with support or breathing out with your face in the water. Your instructor tells you when you are ready for the next one, and you can stay where you are for as long as you like.
How long is a class?
A class lasts forty-five minutes, and a session runs eight weeks. Most members come once or twice a week.
What should I wear and bring?
A swimsuit, a long-sleeved swim top, swim leggings or a swim head covering are all welcome. Bring a towel, a swim cap if you like and goggles if you have them. We provide boards, noodles and belts.
Are there women's sessions?
Yes. Women's sessions are taught by women instructors on a private deck that is closed to everyone else during class. Mixed sessions are open to everyone.
Who is in the water with me?
An instructor is in the water or on the step beside every swimmer. The number of swimmers each instructor has in every level is on our safety page.
What happens if I miss a class?
A missed class can be made up in another class of your level within the session, space allowing. Tell us as early as you can.
What if the pool closes?
We text members when the pool closes for weather, repairs or a college holiday, and we make the class up in the same session.
How does tuition work?
Tuition depends on your level, how many classes a week you take and whether you join as a member. Our figures are on the enrollment page, and the page on how tuition works explains each part.
How do I start?
Book a class on our enrollment page. You get in the water with an instructor for a short level check, and we suggest where to start.
